Surakarta, tekkom.ft.undip.ac.id – As the digital era progresses, tourists increasingly prefer cashless payment options, minimizing the risk of lost cash. However, many UMKM (small and medium enterprises) in Laweyan have yet to adopt digital payment methods like QRIS. Recognizing this, Vincent Gregory Ginting (Computer Engineering) and Muhammad Salman (Management), members of Undip’s KKN Team II, launched a project titled “Training and Education on Safe Transactions Using QRIS Digital Payment Tools for UMKM in Laweyan.” This program aims to empower UMKM operators to use digital payment methods securely and efficiently.
One of the UMKM operators, Tuti, who owns a beverage stall in Laweyan, expressed her enthusiasm for the training. “This training and education were very helpful… With a hands-on approach, I found it much easier to understand digital payment usage,” Tuti shared excitedly. She also emphasized the importance of keeping up with the times to ensure business growth. “Now, I can serve customers better and faster, thanks to the QRIS payment option,” she added.
This program aims to increase UMKM operators’ understanding of the benefits of digitalization in boosting operational efficiency and expanding their market reach. Additionally, it serves as a foundational step for Laweyan’s UMKM to be better prepared for the digital era, supporting Laweyan’s efforts to become a modern tourist destination while preserving local wisdom. With the successful implementation of this program, it is hoped that Laweyan will continue to thrive and become a model for other regions in integrating digital technology with cultural uniqueness to advance tourism and the economy.
