Semarang, tekkom.ft.undip.ac.id – On Tuesday (October 22), the Department of Computer Engineering at Universitas Diponegoro held a seminar to discuss the mechanisms for implementing Final Projects (Tugas Akhir, or TA) and Capstone projects. Held at the Prof. Soedarto Building on the Tembalang Campus, this event aimed to provide clarity on the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for selecting a Final Project mechanism. It was designed to help students prepare for their projects and ensure timely graduation by clearly understanding the process.
Dr. Oky Dwi Nurhayati, S.T., M.T., as the Head of the Department, Rinta Kridalukmana, S.Kom., M.T., Ph.D., as the Secretary of the Program, Patricia Evericho Mountaines, S.T., M.Cs., as the Coordinator for Capstone Projects, and Ilmam Fauzi Hashbil Alim, S.T., M.Kom., as the Coordinator for Final Projects, served as speakers at the event. It was attended by all lecturers and students from the 2021 to 2023 cohorts. The speakers emphasized the importance of building confidence when approaching the stages of TA and Capstone. Students were also encouraged to promptly consult with their advisors if they face challenges to find effective solutions.
Details on Courses and Final Project Formats
The TA and Capstone program consists of two courses:
- Capstone Design Project (2 credits): Can be taken starting from the sixth semester.
- Final Project (4 credits): Can only be taken after passing the Final Project Proposal course.
Final Projects may take the form of a thesis, product prototype, research project, or outputs such as patents, reputable journal articles, or entrepreneurial products. Regardless of the format, students are required to submit a TA report assessed by examiners.
Capstone Workflow and Report Guidelines
The Capstone project workflow includes:
- Topic and team selection.
- Proposal defense.
- Project design and implementation.
- Presentation of results at the Final Project Expo.
- Final defense.
