The development of an increasingly sophisticated world of technology and science has opened up opportunities for today’s students to choose the level of education according to their interests and talents. Likewise with the career path to be taken, this is what prompted Diponegoro University to open a new study program, namely Computer Systems at the Faculty of Engineering.

In 2006 the Faculty of Engineering Formed a Preparation Team for the Opening of the Computer Systems Study Program with a Steering Team of Prof. Ir. Joetata Hadihardaja, Dean of FT Ir. Hj. Sri Eko Wahyuni, MS, PD 1 Ir. H. Bambang Pudjianto, MT, PD2 Ir. Hj. Nany Yuliastuti, MSP., PD 3 Ir. Syafrudin, CES, MT and PD 4 Ir. H. Bambang Purwanggono, M. Eng, Ir. Sudjadi, MT (Electrical Engineering).

This Computer Systems Study Program was built from the Curriculum of the Undip Electrical Engineering Department with a concentration of Computer and Informatics (which already has A Accreditation) integrated with the Association agreement and the Minister of National Education Regulation.

Team Leader Dr. Istadi, ST, MT (Chemical Engineering), Secretary Adian Fatchur. R, ST, MT (Electrical Engineering) with members Ir. Kodrat IS, MT (Electrical Engineering), MT, Dr. Yoga (Department of Machinery) and Zaenal Fanani, ST, MT (Industrial Engineering). The team worked from September 2007.

The team’s work resulted in the issuance of a permit for the opening of the Computer System Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University in 2008 through a letter of approval from the Director General of Higher Education no. 2782/D/T/2008 on August 22, 2008 and with the first Head of Study Program Dr. Ir. Hermawan and Secretary of Study Program Ir. Kodrat Iman Satoto, MT, began to receive the first batch of the Computer System Study Program in 2008 with 45 students.

Undip Computer Systems students received the first Gold Medal at PIMNAS 2013 chaired by Muhammad Yusuf Efendi and led by Budi Setyawan class 2009 who previously in 2012 won the Favorite Champion.

The Computer System Study Program received the first “B” Accreditation from BAN PT (2013).

The Computer System Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Undip, was upgraded to the Department of Computer Systems Engineering with one Computer System Study Program, based on a decree. Undip Chancellor number: 1122/UN7.P/HK/2016 dated 20 September 2016.

The Chair and Secretary of the Department of Computer Systems Engineering, Faculty of Engineering Undip, namely: Dr. Ir. R. Rizal Isnanto., MM., MT and Agung Budi Prasetijo, ST, MIT, PhD for the 2016-2021 term.

In November 2021 the leadership of the Department of Computer Engineering was handed over to Dr. Adian F. Rochim, ST, MT, SMIEEE as head of the department and Kurniawan Teguh Martono, ST, MT as PLT secretary of the Undip Computer Engineering study program for the 2021-2026 term
